CAMP COUNCIL
Boz –
Camp Director
Boz is a founding member and the true inspiration
for Camp Canine.
Honored as CGC graduate, Boz came into our life in 2000
from Alabama. He is loving, quiet and steady. Boz is
a gentle friend to everyone, young and old. A former American Idol
contestant (canine
series) Boz, as Camp Director, oversees the canine staff
at Camp Canine USA.
Newman -
Assistant Camp Director
Newman joined the family at Camp Canine
in 2002. Newman came home with us as a foster dog during
treatment for heartworms
that November. We spent several nights on the living
room floor with him during the early, awful stages of treatment.
It was then we decided
we needed him as much as he needed us. With the help
of a great vet and an equally great cardiologist, Newman
is a happy, healthy 9-year-old
who loves his treats. His duties include supervising
dining hall operations at Camp Canine USA HQ. Where there
is food … there
is Newman. His favorite phrase: “Who wants a cookie?!”
Little
Bit –
Happy Camper Counselor
Little Bit is everybody’s pal.
A 6-year-old peekapoo, Bitteo (one of his many nicknames) is always
happy and ready to give doggie
kisses. He is a wagging tail with a dog attached. Little
Bit loves to play with his brothers and sister but is equally eager
for a good
stretch and a belly rub. With his big heart and happy-go-lucky
spirit, ‘Bit
makes sure we provide the best to make our Campers Happy.
Fox –
Security Counselor
Foxy is ever vigilant and constantly
reminds us if something is afoot. Just like his namesake,
Fox has ears that can hear the
most distant sounds. As Security Counselor, Fox monitors
the neighborhood, the neighbors’ dogs, the delivery man and always
seems to know we are coming home long before we arrive. Fox loves to
sing for his
supper. It is almost like he is trying to speak to us!
Clyo –
Activities Counselor
Clyo is all about fun. Clyo is a
typical Westie. She loves to explore the backyard -- or
the world when we go on walks. She
struts her stuff on trips to the pet store and is a bona
fide “Go” dog.
She enjoys her stuffed toys and Nylabones as much as
she enjoys good cuddle time watching TV. When dogs hit the screen,
she jumps up to
play. Clyo joined the family at Camp Canine USA in the
summer of 2006 after escaping, we believe, from a puppy mill, with
two other
Westie companions. Because of her spunky nature, we suspect
she plotted the breakout. Clyo loves to play with her brothers, baiting
them
to chase her! Did we mention that she’s a typical Westie girl?
Midnight –
Camp Director Emeritus
Midnight actually adopted us! Middie patrolled our former
neighborhood cul-de-sac for 4 years until he met Little
Bit. Then he moved in to our basement, then the main
house and then into our
hearts. His first trip out of Atlanta was to St. Louis
and then on to Colorado. At 14 years old, Middie is King
of the Camp. He enjoys
the simple things -- a warm bed, good food and belly
rubs.
Special Canine Contributors and Counselors
Petey –
Guidance Counselor
Petey reminds us that life is always
full of miracles. In a rescue facility for 6 months,
Petey came home with us as a foster
in late 2006. He slipped right into the Schneider pack,
and, within weeks, was adopted into a great forever home.
With his gentle, loving
spirit and knowing eyes, Petey taught us that sometimes
God will wink at you when you least expect it. Thanks
Petey, for walking with
us on this journey.
Starsky –
Media Relations Counselor
When you pose for a picture
like this … you definitely have star
quality. Starsky was in rescue for 5 months before he came
home with us. After this photo session, he ran into the backyard like
he had
never seen freedom before. Starsky stole our hearts then
made us extremely happy foster parents when he found the best forever
home possible in
nearby Alpharetta. Starsky was best buddies with Clyo.
And why not? She is a typical Westie girl! They would play for hours
and then fall
asleep next to each other for a long winter’s nap. We are so
happy for our buddy Starsky who started off 2007 in his
new home.
Maddie -
High Adventure Counselor
Maddie was in rescue for months,
a shy girl who did not have a forever home. She came
home with us as a foster in early 2006
and stayed until the fall when she went home with a
fabulous family to Braselton! Maddie took advantage of our backyard
and would
run,
run, run, run, and run so much that you can still see
the path she carved. She proved to us that it sometimes
takes longer to find the
best home in the world. She now shares a loving home
with her brother, Arlo, a Basset boy, who loves her dearly.
Sky -
Counselor-in-Training
Sky is one of our favorite dogs in Camp Canine’s training program.
A rowdy rover, Sky has come a long way to enjoying life as our Counselor-in-Training.
He shows us that positive training brings lifelong happiness.
